Comparation of Personal Income Tax in Czech Republic and Finland

This diploma thesis is focused on taxation of personal income of dependent activity in the Czech republic and Finland. First, the basic context of primary freedoms in European union are defined. Then the relevant legislation concerning taxation of chosen income category in the Czech republic and Finland are described. Using these informations we calculate and compare the tax burden of several model taxpayers in these two countries.
A Loving Home for Every Animal: Civic Engagement of Founders of Dog and Cat Shelters

This diploma thesis presents the conclusions of a qualitative research that dealt with the civic engagement of female founders of private shelters for dogs and cats. The topic is grasped on the basis of the theory of social movements and with the help of models bridging the opposition of volunteerism and activism. At the same time, the interpretation of the results of the thematic analysis relies on the concept of zoopolis, which presents citizenship as a category applicable to human-animal relations. The founders of private shelters approach the animals in their care as unmistakable individuals, beings with personhood and actors who can be and are invited to participate in decisions affecting their lives.

Education for patriotism in Czech schools

The key aim of this work is a method of patriotic education in our schools, mainly in the first grade of primary schools. The point of this work is to awaken patriotism in society again. In the first step we are informed about the important ideas that enable to develope the assumptions neccesary for the patriotic recognition and for an increase in patriotic feeling. The theory pays the attention to morality, influencing behaviour; for example, material and physical values and the aesthetic. It describes each historical term individually, from the beginning of national recovery during the first half of 19th century to the present days. It underlines the need to understand correctly the individual ideas and it points out the general chaos and risks of their interpretations in society. It recognises the important tasks that our society has to face to maintain the education of patriotism succesfully. The practical aspect contains the class discussions, interwiews and analysis of individual pupils, teachers, directors and it compares the level and quality of class debats with teacher`s attitude. The main thing was to find out the teachers' personal feeling about patriotism, his or her attitude towards its education and the way he or she communicates this during the lessons.
The Dynamics of Naturalization Process in Latvia and Estonia in the years 1995 - 2005

The restoration of independence of the three Baltic States occurred in 1991. However the previous period of Soviet occupation brought dire, and to a large extent, permanent changes in the ethnic composition of the population. The changes were the primary reason why both countries had fairly restrictive conditions in the revival of civil status - citizenship was given to pre-war citizens and their direct descendants. This thesis by comparative analysis tries to find out the main differences and similarities in the dynamics of naturalization process in Latvia and Estonia. The dynamics will be analyzed from 1995 to 2005. Latvian naturalization process began in 1995. The year 2005 is characterized by a dramatic changes in preferences of non- citizens, which probably occurred after the accession to the European Union. The first part presents the important concepts of the work and presentment of the two countries at the beginning of the 1990s. Then the comparative analysis follows itself. Naturalization is analyzed according to the characters, which, I believe, had the most important influence on the dynamics of the process - Citizenship Act (and its amendments), Language Act, the accession of both countries to the EU and other economical reasons. Citizenship of the European Union: rights of EU citizens and its impact on the legal order of the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis explores content, purpose and impact of citizenship of the European Union. The European Union is an international organization that affects day-to-day lives of citizens of its Member States. From the beginning of its existence, the European Union (formerly the European Community) has always taken into consideration the interests of its Member States. As it has accrued more power while widening and broadening its competencies, it has made it possible for the European Union to tackle new problems. Eventually, in order to reduce democratic deficit participation of individual citizens became inevitable for the purpose of creation of a genuine link between individuals and the European Union, which helps to ensure its proper governance. Although some rights linked with citizenship had been already incorporated into the law of the European Union, citizenship of the European Union was embedded into the primary law of the European Union by the Maastricht Treaty. Entering into force on 1 November 1993, this represented a milestone for the quality of the relationship between the European Union and citizens of its Member States. Eliška Bucvanová. Diplomová práce. Citizenship - Theoretical Bases and Teaching Practice ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH Weak civil society can be seen as a possible drawback of Czech democracy. One of the possible ways of building it is citizenship education provided within the compulsory school system. Citizenship is also the main subject of this work, which uses qualitative research methods to find out how the concept of "citizenship" is understood by teachers at a selected primary school, what information they provide to pupils on this subject and how. Since the scope of the paper would be insufficient, it does not intend to map the state of citizenship education in the Czech Republic: its aim is to find out how teachers approach the subject and whether their opinions coincide, and to compare their views with the information contained in literature. The results of the work show that the selected school is at a comparatively high level; however, the teachers' attitudes to citizenship education and its aims lack consistency and comprehensiveness and, also, the pupils' knowledge highly varies. Diploma thesis "Health care system development from the perspective of citizens" deals with the current state of Czech healthcare system, how is perceived by the citizens who are the target population of health policy and the main goal of health system is to improve their health. The main goal of this thesis is to find out, if the current state of Czech healthcare system meets with the requirements of citizens, having regard to the citizen's information and compared with the expectations. Qualitative and quantitative research methods (questionnaire, expert and semi structured interviews) were used to achieve the objectives. Theoretical and empirical part of the thesis is focused on the wider context of the role of citizens in the society and enforcement and respect of their human rights. There is emphasized the participation of citizens on health policy and importance of the human rights related to health in the thesis. Results of the survey show the lack of awareness of the human rights related to health and of news in healthcare that does not allow effective participation on creation and implementation of health policy and fulfillment of the role and responsibilities of the state in enforcement of the public interest. Migrant women as active citizens

Diploma thesis tries to offer a new insight into migration and integration of migrant women living in Czech Republic by means of life-story telling of ten such women. By using this approach the author tries to deconstruct stereotypical understanding of migration as a threat or a security hazard for the accepting society, on the contrary she tries to picture migrant women and their life-stories as tales of people who consider Czech Republic their second home and who actively participate on its development. Citizenship is understood as a membership in society of which migrant women are also legitimate and active members. The thesis should contribute to building positive attitude towards migrant women in general and it also offers recommendations for the public as well as integration policy creators as to how migrant women can be reflected in context of migration.
